As Director of Urban Design, Will has been responsible for the development build-out of Blueprint Midtown, a community-based master plan for Midtown Atlanta, which has, to date, attracted and shaped over $2.5 billion in private investment. Herbig assisted in the creation and adoption of new zoning which codified the community's Blueprint vision into law, resulting in Atlanta’s single largest rezoning effort to date. And he supported formation of the Midtown Improvement District (MID), a self-taxing district now generating $4 million in incremental revenue annually used for capital improvements within the district. During his tenure, he has provided technical assistance and design solutions for over 200 private development projects within Midtown. He provides on-going support with City staff, stakeholder groups, real estate interests, and the design community to ensure build-out conformance with zoning, design standards and the master plan. Will is currently providing planning and design assistance for the development of the "Midtown Mile," an emerging authentic flagship-retail district along Atlanta’s Peachtree Corridor. Will has a Masters of City Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a BS degree in Urban Studies from Georgia State University, and was a 1994 "Rising Star" program participant in Architecture at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Will presents and advocates for Midtown Alliance programs and urban design as a frequent lecturer, jury member and panelist at various educational institutions and civic groups. He is a member and serves on various boards, commissions, committees and task force groups, including Urban Land Institute, Congress for the New Urbanism, American Planning Association, The Sierra Club and Keep Atlanta Beautiful.
