Shannon Powell has 15 years of experience as an urban planner in Atlanta.  She has been with the Midtown Alliance since 1996. Prior to her employment with the Alliance, she was a Transportation Project Manager for the 1996 Paralympics and an Economic Development Planner for the City of Atlanta, Bureau of Planning.

As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Shannon has been responsible for the development and implementation of Blueprint Midtown, a community-based master plan for Midtown Atlanta.  Through her leadership, the Midtown Alliance has overseen the completion of the vision plan, over 50 new developments planned for the Midtown community, the development of detailed implementation plans for a 10-corridor $75 million streetscape improvement program, the identification of new funding sources for plan implementation, the adoption of new zoning codes by the City of Atlanta as an implementation tool for the Blueprint Midtown plan, and development of program-supportive marketing tools.  Shannon is currently providing strategic planning for the development of The Midtown Mile urban shopping district along the Peachtree Corridor.

Shannon has a BS degree in Urban Studies from the College of Charleston and a Master of City Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
