Guided by the Blueprint, backed by zoning law, and sustained by the Midtown Improvement District (MID), Midtown Alliance and its members can take pride in these initiatives and programs.

A Unique Blueprint...A Master Plan For Midtown Atlanta
Initiated by Midtown Alliance, a comprehensive master plan called Blueprint Midtown guides the district's growth. The plan is the result of a unique visioning process in which the entire community had a voice. Through the Blueprint, Midtown Alliance focuses on issues that promote economic development and enrich community life--public safety, a cleaner environment, better pedestrian passageways, less traffic, and more green space.

Atlanta's Midtown Mile
Merging new and existing retail into an authentic, cosmopolitan, shopping district, when complete, Atlanta’s Midtown Mile will feature a diverse mix of national brands and local boutiques. This coordinated development initiative will deliver 1 MILLION sf of flagship, street-level retail to fourteen consecutive blocks of Peachtree Street.

Strong Zoning Support
Blueprint Midtown inspired the single largest rezoning legislation in City of Atlanta history. As a result, the Blueprint is backed by the letter and spirit of the law and helps ensure a livable, workable and sustainable community. Midtown Alliance works to make this happen by acting as a liaison between the private sector and public realm.

Midtown Improvement District
Midtown Alliance also facilitates the Midtown Improvement District (MID), a self-taxing district created by Midtown commercial property owners to fund large-scale, local public improvement programs. The MID addresses stakeholder issues and aggressively pursues ways to leverage taxpayer dollars with other funding sources.

Midtown Cityscapes
The multi-million dollar program is transforming 10 major Midtown corridors into safe, attractive, pedestrian-friendly passages and is creating urban parks and green spaces.

Midtown Blue Public Safety Force
Midtown Blue is a 24/7 private security force of off-duty Atlanta Police officers working to increase public safety and decreasing crime in Midtown. As a result of Midtown Blue's efforts, crime incidents within the Midtown Improvement District dropped between 28 percent during 2007 compared to 2006. Midtown Blue officers monitor the feed from 30 video cameras strategically located throughout Midtown to address criminal activity, traffic and transportation issues as well as homeland security concerns.

Midtown Green Environmental Maintenance
Safety is oftentimes linked with environment. Therefore, places that look safe usually are safe. From greenery plantings to pole painting, Midtown Green works consistently to keep the streets of Midtown clean and attractive. Uniformed Green crews in designated vehicles provide daily litter control and light maintenance along Midtown streets.

Greenprint Midtown
Atlanta and the region face significant challenges with water resources, air quality, waste, and transportation. To begin to address some of these challenges, Midtown Alliance will develop a neighborhood-scale sustainability plan that will offer a replicable model for other communities. Together with Midtown stakeholders, we will develop a comprehensive sustainability plan that refines the vision to strengthen current initiatives and develop new ideas that address other sustainability needs.

Midtown Transportation Solutions (MTS)
The goals of MTS, Midtown's transportation management association, are to provide better mobility and air quality in Midtown, while working in collaboration with regional agencies to increase transportation options.

Midtown Economic Development
By providing economic data, maps, development trends, zoning consultation, and other information, the Alliance assists the private sector in the build-out of Midtown Atlanta.

Destination Midtown
Arts and entertainment give the community character and act as catalysts for growth. In strategic marketing initiatives, including promotion of Midtown's entertainment, dining, shopping and arts offerings through the Midtown Guide to Culture, Cuisine and Commerce, the Alliance works to enhance Midtown as a premier destination for visitors and residents.
