TRANSPORTATION . 14th STREET BRIDGE

14th Street Bridge Improvement Project

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has worked in concert with Midtown stakeholders to create an exciting plan for the 14th Street corridor that balances vehicular needs, pedestrian safety, and good urban design. This $86 million project will greatly improve the aesthetic and functionality of Midtown's busiest interchange.

Lane configuration: The new 14th Street corridor calls for a six-lane bridge with a 13-foot median. The six-lane section tapers down to five lanes with a seven-foot median at Fowler Street (to the west) and West Peachtree Street (to the east).

Landscaping: The new 14th Street corridor will include landscaped medians, both on the bridge and off, planted with seasonal flowers, ground cover, shrubbery, and trees. Additional streetscape elements along the wider 15-foot sidewalks will include new street trees, street lights, concrete pavers, light towers, and a decorative fence along the edge of the bridge.
