5th Street Bridge

The Georgia DOT has recently completed the reconstruction of the 5th Street Bridge over Interstate 75/85. The new bridge is three times larger than the one it replaced and offers a park-like setting that will help to reconnect the Georgia Tech campus on the west side of the connector with Technology Square and the commercial core of Midtown on the east side.  The bridge retains its original traffic configuration but now is much more inviting to pedestrians.  Amenities on the bridge include 24-foot wide sidewalks, a striped bicycle lane, a trellis, planter walls, park benches, trees, brick pavers, decorative lighting, and sound barrier walls to silence the noise from the Interstate traffic below.
